Contemporary hardwood furniture. Functional art for interiors and gardens.
Designed and hand made in Reeth, desired by the discerning worldwide.

Peter Cummings is an award winning furniture designer and maker based in Reeth,
North Yorkshire. He has developed a range of distinctive, sculptural and ergonomic
furniture that is manufactured for a discerning client base both in the UK and
overseas. Each piece is crafted from the finest hardwoods available and displays
a unique unity of form, function and longevity.

A qualified mechanical and production engineer, Peter worked in the manufacturing
industry for several years. He began making furniture in 2000 after training with
expert cabinet-maker Wynn Bishop, who had previously been employed in John
Makepeace's workshop. Peter set up his own studio in 2004.

In 2009 Peter was awarded a Bespoke Guild Mark by the Worshipful Company of
Furniture Makers, the livery company of the British furniture industry. The company
encourages public recognition of excellence by the grant of it's Guild Marks to
furniture judged to be outstanding. This award was one of only nine nationally
during the year and the first to be awarded to a maker in Yorkshire for over 20 years.

            How to buy

Contact Peter to order any piece from the portfolio. Pieces can be made in a variety
of woods to suit customer preference and Peter is happy to discuss the qualities and
appearances of each. Visitors to the studio can look at timber samples and see work
in progress. Designs on view will depend on what is being worked on at that time and
which finished pieces are awaiting delivery but there is always something to see!

            Decisions, Decisions

Once a choice has been made a 50% deposit will secure your place on the waiting list
with the remainder payable on delivery or collection of the piece.

            Commissioning

You love Peter's work but don't quite see what you want in his portfolio? Time to
commission a piece. After initial discussions, Peter will go back to the drawing
board. For this there will be a non-refundable design fee. Once a design has been
agreed the standard 50% deposit will apply. Some flexibility on completion times
will be necessary on commissioned work as obviously the actual making is untested,
but regular progress updates will be made as you await your truly unique piece of
            furniture.

On projects running into several months we may request that the entire cost is paid
in several installments over the duration of the work.

UK wide delivery and international shipping.
